As part of the effort to bring Concorso Italiano back to its memorable beginnings, we are trying to upgrade the quality of the food and beverage service. We considered many alternatives and settled on a food court format with a variety of food choices supplied by various local and regional providers. Our goal is to provide delectable food choices, at reasonable prices, with minimal lines. You will find the pricing to be considerably less than going to a ball game.
If you want pizza, Monterey–based Bruno’s Market & Carmel Pizza Co. will be serving freshly baked pies in their brand new stone pizza oven. You can get your pizza by the slice, or purchase the entire pie if you’re hungry enough. And if you like salad, they will serve that too. If you are craving barbeque, Balesteri Catering of Monterey is preparing tri–tip sandwiches. Can you already savor the sweet smoky scent of barbeque? But Balesteri is not stopping with tri–tip. They are also offering Italian sausage sandwiches and meatball sandwiches—a carnivorous heaven.
Euro Snacks of Carnelian Bay is going to provide something more robust than snacks. In fact, their French hot dog sandwich is an opportunity for you to experience something different—and no, this has nothing to do with tofu. Then there is Bratwurst USA. Some of you may know them as Lugano in Carmel. Andre is a CI veteran, and he brings back several menu items including bratwurst and fried calamari. Many of you will fondly recall the savory flavor of Andre’s freshly fried calamari at CI in prior years. Andre will also be offering some Cajun heat in a Louisiana hot sausage. Be sure to get some cold beverages to put out the fire. When thinking of prior years’ food service, do you remember the smoked turkey legs? If not, you are in for a treat. If you do recall the turkey legs, you will be happy to know that Aroma Concessions is back, and in a big way. In addition to turkey, they will be offering a Philly cheese steak sandwich, rosemary garlic chicken sandwich, kabobs, garlic fries, chicken Caesar salad, and freshly squeezed lemonade.
All of the food court options will also be selling ice–cold soda and bottled water.
Apart from the food court, we have other choices. Balesteri Catering will have a busy day. In addition to the sandwiches they’re offering in the food court, Balesteri will be hosting the now sold out Clubhouse Buffet Lunch. Balesteri will also have five or more beverage stations throughout the event where you can purchase a variety of adult beverages and the aforementioned soda and bottled water. Another group will have two locations where you can purchase unique Italian sodas and Pelligrino.
In our new Concorso Café area of the event you will find a place to rest your feet and indulge yourself. Espresso drinks (lattes, mochas, cappuccinos, etc.) will be available in at least two locations. To help satisfy any cravings for sweets, Euro Snack will be offering Belgian Waffles, and Gelato Massimo will provide heat relief in the form of soothing Gelato and Sorbet. For those of you who are fans of tofu, you won’t find any served at CI so we urge you to bring your own. Abbondanza!
